In memory of
Sivestr Soroka

He was born in August 7, 1946, graduated from Lviv State University in 1969, specialty " Radiophysics and Electronic".

After graduation in 1969 he went to work in the Physico-Mechanical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences, where he worked until 1996. He has gone from Research assistant to the Director of Special Design and Technological Bureau PMI Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. From 1996-2011 years worked as director of the Lviv Centre of Institute of Space Research NAS and NSA of Ukraine. He also served as Head of Department an acoustic instruments.

From the beginning of professional activity his research work was concentrated in the acoustic fields and creating devices for study acoustical fields.

His first works were about problems of development of undersea acoustic-seeing systems. As the result the experimental acoustic-seeing systems were created and S.Soroka became the Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD). He was made suggestion to consider the system of image making as the multichannel system of relation with spatio-temporal information medium. There were proposed general conditions necessary to build a system soundvision.

Further he worked on creation of testing systems for aircraft-missile acoustical reliability. With his participation were designed and created high-power acoustical generators. There were received more than ten copyright certificates on the system of management of acoustic fields and testing chambers and acoustic oscillators.

Since 1996, under his guidance were established studies of acoustic channel of lithosphere-ionosphere relationships. Experimentally proved the possibility of excitation of the ionosphere by above-ground acoustic oscillator. In those experiments were involved unique radar and radio physical means of the territory of Ukraine. It was displayed For the first time the effects of acoustic disturbances on meteorological processes, opening an opportunity for local weather correction by acoustic disturbance of atmosphere.

In his works on the basis of experimental data there is shown the connection of solar activity on atmospheric infrasound, which confirms the reality of the acoustic channel of influence on space weather on biospheric and other planetary processes.

More than 50 papers were published on the base of his research work.

He died in March 16, 2011.
